Yes, it's already over. I can,t believe it either. This was probably the fastest trimester in the whole year. We did a lot in this class. Weekly photography assignments, weekly photoshop assignments and much more. Looking back at my photography skills before and after taking photography class I really see a difference. I feel so much more comfortable using my camera. At the beginning I did take good pictures but only sometimes and it was a coincidence. I didn't know how the light should be for perfect conditions, my pictures were out of focus and usually not very interesting to look at. I think that I improved in this aspect. I can shoot in manual mode and the pictures might turn even better out than in automatic mode. My favorite type of photography is taking pictures of architecture and events. I just love using different angles, perspectives and edits while taking pictures of architecture. My trips to different cities like NY made architecture photography even more fun obviously. Taking pictures of events is also very fun. I never really uploaded any pictures of events that I went to but I just love looking back at these pictures. Every singe one of them always brings back so many memories. No let's look back at all the photoshop assignments that I worked on. This trimester we really learned a lot in photoshop. My previous experiences in photoshop from photo 1 were a great base to all the things that I learned in this class. I feel a lot more comfortable using this application. Some steps already are routine where you don't even think about them anymore. My personal favorite photoshop assignments were the duplicate and photoshop tutorial ones. The duplicate one just asked for creativity, cleverness and the ability to "face" good enough to make it look real. It's just so much fun to be able to see the process that is behind making an advertisement and making it good. many different steps are required but it is so nice to have a good result. The thing I liked about the photoshop tutorials was that it really challenged us. I picked a pretty hard one. But having every singe step explained by someone that really understands what they are talking about was good. It helped to discover more ways to use photoshop.
In the following gallery you can see my favorite pictures of this trimester. All of them contain a lot of work. I do defiantly think that compared to my first trimester pictures, these ones are a lot more interesting to look at. In the following gallery you can see my favorite photoshop work of this trimester:

Our second and last portrait assignment was self and environmental portrait. I had a lot of fun taking these pictures. I tried to picture myself with the things that love to do or that I am. The first four pictures are my self portraits. The last two are environmental pictures. The only edits I did was turn some of them black and white and crop the pictures.
This whole weeks was and still is full of taking portrait pictures. The first three are my best studio pictures. The last two are the best portraits that I took outside. We were so lucky about the weather today which made taking pictures so much easier. I learned that the environment that you take the picture in really matters. Depending on the light and background, the pictures can have a totally different mod to them.
As my last assignment I did lighpainting. I really liked doing light painting in photo 1. This time I tried to set the goal higher which made it harder for me to take the pictures. I had a lot of fun taking them but sometimes I wish for a professional camera and professional light sources which would make the pictures a lot better and easier to take. I still tried my best and this is how they turned out: My edits: more contrast, less brightness, black and white, crop. I learned that the lighpainting pictures you can find online are made by professional photographers and really hard to recreate or take inspirations from.
In this assignment we tried to recreate advertisement. We included our own picture and than tried to make the rest look the same. In the galleries below you can see the picture that I took first followed by the original advertisement. After that I included the copy that I made. I really had a lot of fun trying to recreate them. Without creativity this would not have worked. I think I did a pretty good job, what do you think? :)
This is my photoshop work from this week. We tried to recreate tutorials by ourselves.
Smoke tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqfB1DchijU This weekend we had mothersday. Since we had many flowers at home I decided to take HDR pictures of these flowers. The colors look so much better in HDR and our flowers were nice and colorful. I didn't do any edits besides merging them together. I learned that taking HDR pictures isn't that hard. Once I found the right setting, the camera took the pictures by itself. All I had to do was merge them together and they were done :)
Our next assignment was to create a gallery which represents me right now and how I think I will be in the future. I had a lot of fun making these collages. In both pictures I picture myself as going many places in the world. I tried to include many different pictures and blend them well together.
After we did panoramics last trimester we started doing panographics. They are a little different. While the normal panoramics are perfectly blend together and basically just a very long picture, the panographics are more creative. We do have a wider view of the image but we are also free to add some parts on the top or bottom. Doing this it doesn't matter how we hold our camera. So horizontal, vertical or completely different doesn't matter as long as the distance between the photographer and the object are still the same.
Merging them together can be done either by hand or with the photoshop automate photoshop. It was a lot of fun to out them together by hand. |
